Beach Read by Emily Henry: Book Review

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Oh my, Emily Henry has a new stalker. *Cough, cough * I mean fan! Beach Read by Emily Henry was surprisingly a darker theme than anticipated and not a lot of time spent on the beach for a book called Beach Read 😉 With that said though, it was still a fabulous read for me. As most of us who love to read books, I’m a huge fan of reading about writers and their world. I loved a little insight into these two writers, their journey, friendship, and more. Their friendship felt organic, seasoned, and full of sexual tension.

I LOVE sexual tension and slow burn in my romance books. I love to work for it and Emily Henry made us work for it in this book. Their banter, their back and forth, and the will they or won’t they theme was a major plot line in this story and I was all for it.

Alongside their budding friendship was a darker side of finding out that parents are just humans too. January Andrews, awesome name by the way, found out a side to her father that she struggles with accepting after his death. As a romance author, it really put a stone in her path. Emily Henry really dives deep with the reader and makes you think about how parents are people too and mistakes happen. Parents aren’t perfect. As someone who recently became a parent myself, I can definitely relate to that as well.

Beach Read by Emily Henry was fun, dark, steamy, interesting, and full of the banter that I crave and love. The one thing that I felt let down with was that I had read Book Lovers (her newest book) first and I fell head over heels in love with Book Lovers soooooo. I couldn’t help comparing it to that work of art. I’d marry Book Lovers. If I’m going to compare these two books then I would only have a one-night stand with Beach Read because it’s a good time!

I have added the Amazon link on the photo above for easy click access! Don’t skip out on this one.

BOOK BLURB

FROM THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF PEOPLE WE MEET ON VACATION AND BOOK LOVERS!

A romance writer who no longer believes in love and a literary writer stuck in a rut engage in a summer-long challenge that may just upend everything they believe about happily ever afters.

Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes bestselling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast.

They’re polar opposites.

In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they’re living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer’s block.

Until, one hazy evening, one thing leads to another and they strike a deal designed to force them out of their creative ruts: Augustus will spend the summer writing something happy, and January will pen the next Great American Novel. She’ll take him on field trips worthy of any rom-com montage, and he’ll take her to interview surviving members of a backwoods death cult (obviously). Everyone will finish a book and no one will fall in love. Really.
